God

So I was reading out of Deuteronomy tonight and basically if you think God doesn't take sin extremely seriously, read Deuteronomy. The punishment for anything major was stoning, outside the camp. If someone tries to get you to worship another god though, you were to kill them immediately. No trial, nothing like that, just cut their throat. In one chapter especially I noticed something. The chapter was 67 verses long. The first 25 were dedicated to rewards for doing what God tells them to, the rest were what would happen if they failed, rebelled, or forgot. But also there was hope, because after they had sinned and had been taken over by some other country, God would forgive them and raise up someone to lead them back. This happened A LOT in Judges. The God of the old testament is the same as the God of the new testament. He isn't unforgiving, He just can't stand sin. He forgave the children of Israel over and over.
