We talked about love at youth group tonight so I decided to do a follow up of my earlier post...
Basically worldly love is a selfish love that depends on what the other person does, looks like, and makes you feel like. It is conditional and can easily be ditched at anytime.
Christian brotherly love is much different. Basically we are to love others the way God loves us. He sees us as clean now that we are redeemed by Christ. Our love is unconditional an not for selfish interests. When people outside the church see how we love each other they will notice. Most people will want what we have got. That's why in Acts 2:47 it says more were being added to their number every day.
Does everything we do make Jesus look great? If it doesn't, maybe we should rethink what we are doing.
Psalm 106:1
Praise the Lord! Oh give thanks to the Lord for He is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.
Key Verse
How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to thy word. Psalm 119:9

Love!!!
Being that it's Valentines day I figured I would do something different today. (well actually Valentines day is in 8 minutes) I am going to find some verses from the Bible that talk about love, clearly it is an important aspect of a christian's life.
1 John 4:16
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he have his only begotten son into the world that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Deuteronomy 6:5
You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.
Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil.
John 15:13
Greater love has no man then this, that he lay down his life for a friend.
Galatians 5:13
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
1 John 3:17-18
But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?
1 Corinthians 13 1-3
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
1 Corinthians 13 4-7
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
So there you go.. Literally if you open the Bible up to any page, it probably will have something to say about love.

Shout out to:
Balaam's Donkey!!! Haha I was reading that story today... The whole episode is quite humorous, but the best part is when the donkey asks him a question, he answers it! Just like, yeah whatever, donkeys talk... xD Then he goes to curse the Israelites and Balek takes him to a hill and prepares sacrifices. And balsam blesses Israel. Balak, undaunted, takes him to a different hill and is like maybe from this view God will let you curse them. Nope. What does Balek do? Let's try another hill... Maybe there God will let you curse them... That is actually the definition of insanity: doing the same thing and expecting different results. So Balek's anger is kindled and he "struck his hands together forcibly"

The Bible
It's been bugging me for a while that I love to read and haven't even read the whole Bible yet. A little while ago I started a Bible reading plan that will get me through it in just about 90 days. It's been great so far. I highly encourage you to start a plan yourself. You might be thinking "well I would... But I have no time." YES YOU DO!!!! We all have 24 hours a day. What you do with it is your decision. You sleep don't you?!? (DON'T YOU?!?!?) Cut an hour out of that if you have no other time. That's what I did, and honestly I didn't think it would last for very long. So I asked God to keep me awake. It worked. I am in Numbers right now. It actually is quite interesting.

Shout out to:
Charles Simeon!!! This guy spent 54 years of his life faithfully preaching to a church that hated him. They would lock the pews so anyone who listened had to stand, hire other preachers to cut in and preach in the afternoon, and throw rocks through his windows, among other things. 54 years is a long time. Only God could have kept him going through all of that.
